This is always a good trip - check out the Trip Log.
Pfalz is about 5hours drive away, you can see more info here. We'll probably leave on Friday stay somewhere on the way to get most out of climbing on Saturday.
About Pfalz:
Pfalz is a fantastically beautiful region at the very west of Germany, close to the French border. The landscape is that of rolling hills with beautiful forests, which offers climbing, cycling and hiking for a lifetime.
The type of rock is hard sandstone, which - as opposed to the other well-known German sandstone area Elbsandstein - allows for usage of metal protection (nuts, cams, etc.). The climbs there are mostly single pitch climbs on beautiful sandstone towers that stick out of the forest, spread over a rather large area.
The type of climbing is usually trad, with the occasional ring anchor at the crux or on otherwise unprotectable sections.
This is a Trad(itional) climbing area, so no bolts but removable protection :-)
If you've never climbed Trad, you should - adds an extra dimension to the climbing. I hasten to add it's perfectly safe for those seconding.
There will be limited places on this trip (limited by the number of Trad Leaders) so if you're keen RSVP.

Comment by Omer on May 16, 2013 at 14:57 Oh well, as long as we can reschedule. Would be so much nicer in a dry and warm weekend of course. But please try not to reschedule between Jun 21 - Jul 7, if possible :)
Comment by Daniel on May 16, 2013 at 14:50 @Rene - will reschedule next week for June or July. (def before the UK trip :>)
Comment by Daniel on May 16, 2013 at 14:43 If some are still keen, then you can still go of course -I have guide book if you need to borrow one.
Comment by Daniel on May 16, 2013 at 14:42 ok i'm going to leave this up.... till Monday - then I'm going to reschedule it.
apologies but the weather is just not in our favour.
I have no experience with trad, so if you guys say wet rock is bad for trad climbing I think we can better cancel it...
But please let me know asap so that if it is necessary I can make other plans
I'm not keen on sitting in a rainy forest for three day either. I don't mind cancelling it considering the forecast.

No matter which weather report you see it looks wet. It's raining all of this week and (depending on the report) one or all of the days of the weekend with varying amounts.
The routes will be soaked (and sandstone does absorb the water more than most) unless you do the big over hangs (which I don't plan on doing) and I doubt anyone else is going to do. You'll be in a forest.
Personally I don't want to spend 3 days dodging showers and searching for dry rock.
Omer, in your report Sat does look good - 20 degrees - but pretty much every other one shows rain :-P
What say the rest of you? I heard from Flo who is of a similar mind to myself... what about the rest?
Comment by Daniel on May 16, 2013 at 10:20 @Bruno - not that I know of... It looks wet, it's been wet for a while and somehow I don't want to climb wet sandstone on Trad.
Comment by Bruno on May 16, 2013 at 9:53 Is there a way to have a "backup plan" to go to a sport climbing site if the rain becomes too critical for trad climbing?
Comment by Omer on May 16, 2013 at 9:50 Only serious rain forecast is for Friday night. Saturday is no rain, sun and 20 degrees. Will it get dry enough? Sunday looks like it could go either way...
