Event Description

Once again the summer holidays means we're heading to Great Britain (the clue is in the name), possibly the birthplace of what we now call rock climbing.

There is so much on offer, rocks of all shapes and sizes.

For the past 3 years some of us left the continent and headed over to mainland europe to make the most of some fabulous weather.

Here are some of the pictures: Last years trip, the best ever.

Where we go will ultimately depend on how we feel nearer the time but I have a tonne of ideas to suit everyone; from the amazing edges of the Peak to the high mountains of North Wales (Snowdonia) More pics?, still wanna see more?

Accomodation will be tents on cheap campsites which will keep costs to a minimum.

Travelling will totally depend on how long you want to go for and where we go - of course there are spare places in my car.

Most of the climbing in the UK is Trad (Traditional) with Friends and nuts, but there is some sport available, personally I will be avouiding these routes.

Previous experience is not required.

As always, the exact timing of this trip is open to personal interpretation - come longer or shorter the choice is yours if you can sort your own transport.

Sign up soon so I can organise logistics.

Hi Daniel,

I wouldn't mind going, however I could be going to Australia for holidays this year. If I don't go to Oz, it would be great to get over to the UK and jump on some rock there again. If you want I could help out with poeple that need to learn tad, because I have my SPA thingy. That would be great.

As the time get's closer, I'll let you know.

Previous experience not required? Then count me in! Please let me know how to get there (the exact location if decided). Probably I will join for 3/4 days and not the whole week. Then I'm going to figure out how to get there.

Marieke, we usually start off at the peak and then see what the weather is doing :)

Hi Daniel,

I would like to let you know that if we have to choose between Wales and Peak district in August my preference goes out to Peak. Already two experienced friends have advised me definitely to go to Peak. Also, one of them, who has a modest experience in trad climbing, is thinking of joining, but only if we are going to Peak, and not if we are going to Wales. Maybe this helps you making a decision...

Best regards, Marieke
