Event Description

Once again the summer holidays means we're heading to Great Britain (the clue is in the name), possibly the birthplace of what we now call rock climbing.

There is so much on offer, rocks of all shapes and sizes.

For the past few years some of us left the continent and headed over to mainland europe to make the most of some fabulous weather.

Where we go will ultimately depend on how we feel nearer the time but I have a tonne of ideas to suit everyone; from the amazing edges of the Peak to the high mountains of North Wales (Snowdonia) More pics?, still wanna see more?

Accomodation will be tents on cheap campsites which will keep costs to a minimum.

Travelling will totally depend on how long you want to go for and where we go - of course there are spare places in my car.

Most of the climbing in the UK is Trad (Traditional) with Friends and nuts, but there is some sport available, personally I will be avoiding these routes.

Previous experience is not required.

As always, the exact timing of this trip is open to personal interpretation - come longer or shorter the choice is yours if you can sort your own transport.

Mark Eddy is offering free instruction for 2-3 days on trad climbing, multi pitching and rescuing techniques for a minimum two people.

This is because he needs the experience to qualify for a qualification.

Mark is located in the peak district and he can easily come to Wales or join you in the Peak.

If you are interested (and if you've never done any trad I would recommend it - especially if you are thinking of doing some leading) should talk to each other and then email Mark Eddy to make arrangements (markeddy01@yahoo.co.uk)
