The Amber read-me.

Welcome to the Amber Network, this page contains just a little info about how the website works and how you can best make use of its features.

About the Network.

First up, this is a NON-commercial site, there are no membership fees and the events posted by us are run on a cost price basis. The network was created by Daniel in January 2009 and has grown steadily since then. It's basically just a group of (mostly) ex-pats (i.e. non-locals) who love to climb but also like to meet, chat and have fun with other like minded bods.

We have many nationalities here (too many to mention) and as a result the website is predominately in English.

Commercial interests.

As I have stated this is a NON-commercial site, if you wish to advertise or post links to commercial events then please contact Daniel BEFORE posting to discuss the possibilities. If you post commercial events without prior-consent these events will most likely be deleted and your membership may be cancelled.

The heart of the matter.

Attending events.

The heart of our network are the events, the local indoor events usually take place a couple times a week at the different walls in Amsterdam. We also organise regular trips outdoors, Belgium and France are 2 common locations though we also organise trips to Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

To attend an event, all you need to do is RSVP YES. The event organiser will then know to look out for you. If you have never been to an event or you do not know the people going it may be worth sending the organiser a message so as to introduce yourself and to make sure you know where to be at the start time.

Don't be shy - even if you know no one you will soon get to know people and we were all newbie’s at some time or other.

N.B. Having a decent profile picture goes some way to making the first meet up a little less

traumatic :-)

Event Organisers.

Everyone is welcome to organise events as they please. Try and add a nice picture as this will encourage people to come. Once organised do try and be aware of who is coming to your event and make sure they know where to be and when.

The Trip-logs. aka. The Blog section.

Here you are all invited to post trip descriptions and travel stories. This is a great resource if you are planning on visiting a location - you can gain vital local knowledge.

The Forums.

Till now a little used resource, here you may post discussions or questions you may have about climbing or on any subject you like. Please try and keep the discussions to the correct forum.

That’s about all for now, I hope you enjoy the site and make the most out of it. The front page content is fed via other climbing sites so the content changes regularly.

If you have any questions or suggestions just send them to me, I will be happy to try and answer them.

Ha Daniel,

Nice this Amber website! How can I find people to climb with in he Amsterdam Indoor climbing halls? Do I use the forum for this?

Thanks,

Erik

Erik,

best way is to come to an event - or post one yourself.

Dan.
