My birthday is in may and for the money I ask I want to buy a new climbing-gear, what I use now is at least 10 years old.
Does anybody know a large climbing-gear shop somewhere ?
I know them in Amsterdam, but I prefer to go somewhere else.

I had fun trying to find the correct answers for the DMM competition on Ambers. A couple of years ago my work was all about manufacturing.
And yesterday DMM made my day! They had mailed me two beautiful prices. I received the DMM Ultra O Locksafe and a keyring.
But now I'm wondering. The key ring is a miniature of what? Does anyone know?

Hello,
I am looking for a climbing partner in Amsterdam Mountain Network. I am dutch, speak English and have at the moment plenty of free time(!).
I would like to suggest: first try one time together and if this is cool then later more ...
Thanks in advance!

It's going to be hard to log what is one of the best trips I've ever been on but here goes.
In a week of the best camp cooking ever, crazy shakespeare quotes and some of the best weather the UK could throw at us - Andreea, Flo, Kieran and myself got to grips with some of the best rock on the planet, gods very own Gritstone.
The 4 day forecast was…

Leaving the Dam at 8, Rianne, Jacco, Richard and I headed south and east for the first Ambers trip to Pfalz in Germany.
Last year the intrepid Jen and Mark did the recon and with their guidebook (the Pfalz bible) off we went.…

A year ago Hans and I met talking about an article which we read in 'de Hoogtelijn'. It was an artical about something we had never heard of before; dam climbing. Reading the article lead to searching the internet, looking for information about dams you can climb. Our search quickly revealed that one of the most interesting dams (the Luzzone dam) would be just about on route to Finale. On the way to Finale we never got to do the dam, since it was still snowing according to the…

Originally headed for Swiss to meet up with the Ambers gang in the Winanni hut we (Sanne and myself) decided to change plans and head south. (judging from Dans pictures, a good decision ;-) )
We wanted a bit more warmth, which we got in Finale, a comfortable 21 through 28 degrees ;-) We camped at a very nice and hospitable campsite called Park Mara in the town of Borgio Verezzi. A nice two star campsite with proper facilities and a very friendly staff which make great…

Alpine adventure doesn't really encompass the weekend we went to Wiwanni in the summer? of June 2011.
If anyone reading this for one minute thinks that the Alps are just not worth the effort think again - the weather was varied :-) The climbing brilliant, and the views stunning.

OMG, what a week it was. So much to say, it's hard to put it down but heck - here goes.
First of all the facts, Janne, Arno, Mick, Pieter, Cyriel, Ivana and Ans all arrived before me - I chose to enjoy the delights of queensday in the Vondel Park.
This is the complete group:…

Last weekend a bunch of us (15 in all) headed outside to our local crags for the first trip of 2011 what followed were 2 days of great climbing.
In four cars and a motorbike we crawled south through torrential rain. With only enough space for 10people in the refuge 5 hardened Ambers braved the rain…

I'd never imagined train travel to be so bloody civilised but it was. Jenka and myself left Amsterdam Centraal bang on time at 20.30 accompanied by a bottle of wine, some snacks, a deck of cards and an abundance of enthusiasm we passed a few hours savouring the wine while Jenka gave me a beating with a card game I swear she made up as we…
ContinueAfter a night in a verry spooky hotel in Hockenheim named Gasthaus Talhaus (remember this name), we arieved in Ausserberg. Robert said he would like to bring the coolingbox with us. Glad we did not. After a view minutes we should had to think; we are cariing to much, but we strugled further and further. Although the heavy way up and the heavy walks to the climbingrocks it was a verry good organised event where I learned a lot. I enjoied the stay in the Wiwannihutte, the meals, the…
