Last weekend a bunch of us (15 in all) headed outside to our local crags for the first trip of 2011 what followed were 2 days of great climbing.

In four cars and a motorbike we crawled south through torrential rain. With only enough space for 10people in the refuge 5 hardened Ambers braved the rain and freezing temps in the camping field.

The rain had stopped by breakfast on Sat, and we all got out after b'fast arriving at Yvoir by 9.30. Kicking off with some nice easy slab climbing. The weather got better as the day went on and we were climbing in brilliant sunshine by 3pm - refusing to leave before 6 we cruised on ticking off some lovely routes.

That evening saw the refuge heaving with all kinds of groups, Dave & Celine provided us with food and the Refuge kept up our blood alcohol levels with some interesting results ;-)

That night temperatures plummeted the campers looking with fear as their tents began frosting over in the early evening, with some extra blankets (thanks Refuge) and borrowed sleeping bags (thanks Andreea) everyone survived the night and we packed up and headed out to Beez.

After the soft grades and easy angle of Yvoir, Beez came as a bit of a shock. I think Dave summed it up best "Yvoir is like a deep warm bath compared to the cold shower of Beez" (or words to that effect!)

With the initial shock over we all got down to some great climbing in truely summer temperatures.
